Letterpres Winter and the Snowflake thinlets die

Happy Saturday, Everyone!

Recently two items were added to the Clearance Rack that I HAD to purchase -- the Letterpress Winter stamp set and the coordinating snowflake card thinlits die. I had wanted these when they came out in last year's holiday catalog, but just couldn't justify the cost.  Well,.... now they are on clearance for a killer deal and so I snatched them up.  As you know, with the clearance rack, things sell out, so jump on there and grab them if you love them as much as I do.

This die makes the cutest fun fold Christmas card.  I used the All Is Calm specialty DSP which is also on the clearance rack, with a Lost Lagoon card base.  To make this card larger than the die is intended for, read this blog post.

Also used in these cards: silver foil paper, Island Indigo card stock, Lost Lagoon ink, Island Indigo ink, and basic rhinestones.

The retirement list is also here, with many beautiful treasures up to 50% off!  -- check out the framelit sets and punches especially that are on sale.  Many awesome deals to be had.

Folded shirt card

Happy Thursday!

Today I have a quick post showcasing a "folded shirt card".  I'm using some papers from the new paper stack -- Sweater Weather -- from the Holiday catalog.  There are a lot of nice small patterns in this paper, which makes them well suited for this project.  To make the shirt, use a piece of designer paper 3 1/2 x 5".  For the pattern of how to fold the shirt, email me and I can send you the pdf.  I got this pattern off of splitcoaststampers ages ago, so no idea who to give credit to for it.  There are many versions out there for the folded shirt idea, so this is just one of many.

I used the Tasteful Trim XL die to make the diagonal trim on the card.  The script stamped on the left hand card is from the "By the Tide" stamp set.  The colors I used here are Pool Party and Chocolate Chip.  This is another card we are making at my upcoming masculine cards class for my monthly stampers hostess club.

Below is the lineup of the three cards we are making at my class.  I generally have trouble coming up with masculine cards, so was pretty proud of these ones. :)
Ok, I'm off to finish getting ready for my scrap booking retreat I'm going to this weekend.  Whoopeee!

Jackie Topa's birdhouse card

We recently put a bunch of bird feeders around our house, and the birds have moved in in little flocks!  I LOVE to watch birds right outside my kitchen window, and lately we've had several varieties of finches visiting our feeders.  One little guy, likes to roost on the feeder -- just hanging out with his feathers all fluffed out, eating a seed or two when he feels like it. :)

So,... with all this birdie viewing, I was inspired to try this birdhouse card I saw on Jackie Topa's blog.  I recently bought the Diagonal Scoring plate  and this is the perfect card to try it with.  Goes together so quickly and easily and the end result is stunning.  Great card for Father's Day or a bird enthusiast in your family.  I used the same dimensions she did -- a strip of card stock 11x3 3/4" folded in half, then scored diagonally at 1 7/8 at the top -- see her blog for a step by step tutorial.

I've also been wanting to try this cardinal using the bird punch.  The crest is made by punching out an extra wing, and putting it behind his head.  Of course, I colored a basic rhinestone black with a Sharpie for his eye. :)

We will be making this card at my upcoming Fancy Folds class -- date and time still to be determined! :)

I used Crumb Cake card stock and embossed it with the Stripes embossing folder, then sponged the stripes with some espresso ink to make it look more wood like.  After punching the hole in the front, I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to ensure my sentiment on the inside, showed through the hole when the card is closed.  The designer paper is from the Brights designer paper stack, and the little scalloped edged roof line is made using the scallop dotted border punch.

Happy Easter to each of you, and may you have some tweetie visitors in each of your yards, too!
