A scholarly owl graduates!

Here is a simple graduation card to share with you.  I've seen the owl with a graduation cap in several different places, so this is my take on this little guy.  I created this card to make with a new friend who recently joined my stamping group and needed some graduation card ideas.

I know I've said it a hundred times, but this little owl punch has to be one of the most versatile punches we have.  From owls (of course:), to ghosts, to penguins, to cows,... lots and lots of critter possibilities with this one.

For the top of the grad hat, I used the Petite Pennant Builder punch, and just snipped the two base corners of the triangle piece off at an angle to form the diamond shape.  The base of the hat, is an oval -- with just the tip cropped off.  The wings are the scalloped oval punch, cut in half lengthwise, and the diploma is just a strip of scrap paper rolled up and tied with linen thread.

After embossing the black panel with the Vintage wallpaper embossing folder, I inked it with my white craft ink pad to make the pattern stand out.  The Designer paper frame around the owl, is made with the Labels Framelits -- with paper from the Brights paper stack.

And, that's pretty much it!  Some googly eyes put on with glue dots, some basic rhinestones, and the scalloped polka dotted ribbon and a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes and you have a lovely graduation card!

What a Whoooot! Kid's birthday card

What little person in your life wouldn't love to receive this cheerful little card???  LOVE that little owl punch, of course! and I added wings to him using the bird punch, so it looks like he's holding the collection of balloons.  This card was inspired by a number of different cards I've seen made with this, (new to me) stamp set -- "Party This Way" -- yet ANOTHER free stamp set you can get right now during Sale-a-bration!

I stamped the balloons in Real Red and Pacific Point ink on Whisper White card stock and cut them out, popped them up on dimensionals, and added some Cherry Cobbler bakers twine for the strings.  The clouds are made with the cupcake punch, (a lovely punch that I sadly haven't used very much -- don't know why!) and I added a little yellow sun in the upper right corner using the 1 3/8" circle punch.  The red "rick rack" along the bottom is made using the Tasteful Trims XL die.  This die is a bit on the spendy side, but I really do use it a lot. It makes 12" die cuts, so it's perfect for scrap booking as well as card making.  And doesn't it add such a cute touch to the bottom of this card?!  (Here's another card using this die: http://www.stampedwithflair.blogspot.com/2011/10/sweet-stiched-stockings.html)  The Bashful Blue card base is embossed with the Snow burst embossing folder -- such a great embossing folder for many, many applications.  Finally, I made his little party hat using the Petite Pennants Builder punch -- which coordinates with the Party This Way stamp set, as well.

"EEK!" I'm cute!!!!

I am so LOVING the "It's a Wrap Holidays" stamp set .  Here, I stamped the little "EEK!" with the cute little spider on Avery shipping labels -- peeled them off, and stuck them around little Nugget candies.  I then used the BigZ XL matchbox die to make the perfect little Halloween treat holder box. For the Designer paper, I used the Frightful Sight Designer Series Paper.  It's a great pack of Halloween papers, in my opinion. The patterns aren't so big that you can't make smaller projects with it, and it's more on the "cuter" Halloween side, rather than creepy, which suits me better. :)
To make the darling ghost, just take the owl punch, trim off the feet, turn it upside down - so the ears are pointing down, and add the scary face, using the pumpkin faces sizzlit die, or you could just get creative with a black Sharpie, and you have the cutest, easiest little ghost!
The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set -- such a versatile set that has every sentiment pretty much, that you could want -- AND it fits perfectly in the Word Window punch framed by the Modern Label punch.
A little bit of Old Olive ribbon, and some Basic Black, Whisper White, and Cajun Craze card stock, and you're all set to make this project!  What a darling little Halloween gifty for your favorite teacher, coworker, Trick-r-treaters!  AND, don't forget, that there are Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines, St Patty's day, Easter, and MORE stamps in that It's A Wrap Holidays stamp set -- such a versatile stamp set to make favors for any holiday. 

Birthday Owl

This little owl is a stamp from the Free Sale-a-bration set called "Punch Bunch".  He is so cute and easy to stamp and quickly punch out.

 I used a 2" strip of some designer paper from the "Greenhouse Gala" series.  It's jut perfect to give some great pizzazz to this little birthday card.
